Minutes - September 2, 2009

The meeting was opened at the flying field by President Ken Simmons at 1930.

A new member was introduced to the club. Mr. Cliff Miell. A recent retiree with Albertson's with over 40 years of service. He was buddy boxing with David C. before the meeting learning to fly.
Approval of the August 5, 2009 club minutes as e-mailed to the members was motioned by David C. and 2nd by Richard P. The motion carried.
Treasure's Report: Bob A.

  1. Balance in the account $2524.50.
  2. It was reported that the final total of Dean Burgess donation of planes sold is over $900. Thank you again Dean.
A motion to accept the Treasure's Report was made by David C. and 2nd by Bob M. The motion carried.

Old Business:
  1. Committee Report:
    1. Safety: Jerry H. Jr. - No reports of violations.
    2. Grounds Maintenance: David C. - David reported that an excellent nearly new lawn sweeper was purchased for $150 rather than repair the old one. A motion was made by Bob M. to reimburse David for the expenditure. It was 2nd by Richard P. The motion carried.
  2. Flight Simulator Status: Todd H. and Richard P. in possession. It was requested that the simulators be returned for use at the clubs open house on September 26. Jerry H. Jr. said he would contact Todd in this regard.
  3. Access Road Repair: David C. - A discussion was led by David about the repair of the road. It was motioned by Richard P. and 2nd by Bob M. that David be authorized to coordinate the project and to expend up to $700 for its completion.
  4. Fun Fly Report, August 22.: Jerry H. Jr. - Jerry reported that all had a good time. New visitors attended with desires to join the club. However attendance figures were low. Winners were 1st place, Jerry H.Jr, 2nd place, Ken S., and 3rd place, Jerry J. with Richard P. a close 4th. A discussion was held about how to improve attendance and participation. More to follow on that.
  5. Ontario Air Fair Combat Demo (our club flyers) on tap. September 12. Ken S. will e-mail members with the details and also we will have a static display on tables and info about our club and the upcoming open house. More to come from Ken S.
  6. Open House/Swap Meet will start at 10AM, set up at 9AM. Events will include:
    1. 10AM - The building of AMA Cub rubber band powered, free flight models provided by the club. They will be built by the interested visitors. Helpers to the visitors will be Bob M., Bob A. and Jerry H. Sr. and any other club members. Later on a flying contest will be held.
    2. 11AM - Simulator training
    3. Noon - Flight training (buddy box) by our flight instructors.
    4. 1PM - Contest with the Cub planes.
A discussion was held regarding P/R for the event. Some members will contact the schools, newspapers and other media. Also the club authorized the purchase of 12 more of the model Cub planes to be on hand for use.

New Business:
  1. Combat Meet at our field Saturday, September 5th. Registration 9AM, Start 10AM. Volunteers are needed to help in judging etc.
  2. Jetero RC Club Raffle drawing September 27. Many worthwhile prizes are available. E-mail Ken S. for details about buying tickets.
  3. Miniature Aircraft Assoc, Fly-in, Tri-Cities, October 2-4.
  4. Other New Business:
    1. Bob M. - Weed Control. Bob said the club should get rid of the unwanted weeds along side the road, parking lot and within the flying field. He said the club could rent a mower for 8 hours for $300. Dale C. said the club could borrow his mower to be used by Richard P. and Bob M. The club to pay for the gas. A motion to this effect was made by Jerry H. Sr. to accept Dale's offer and 2nd by Jerry H. Jr. The motion carried. the coordination to by made by Bob M. Thanks Dale.
    2. David C. mentioned the clubs special during the Air Fair and our open house that new members signing up would include membership in 2009 and 2010. A motion was made by David C. and 2nd by Dale C. The motion carried.
    3. Jerry J. reminded the members that we need to start thinking about new officer nominations in October, elections in November and installation and the Christmas Party in December. A discussion was held and a date of December 6 to be the installation, party and December club meeting at the Plaze Inn, Ontario. Ken S. to make the reservations.
  5. Next meeting - October 7, 2009, at the hobby store.
  6. The meeting was adjourned. 1st motion by Richard P, 2nd by Jerry H. Jr. The motion carried.
