Minutes - October 1, 2008

The meeting was opened by President Bob A. at 1930.

A welcome to new SRVM Club member Clint Mclaughlin from Cambridge.

Minutes from the meeting of September 3, 2008 were submitted for approval as e-mailed to the members. A motion to accept the minutes was made by David C. and 2nd by Lynn H. The motion carried.

Treasurer's Report: Not Received

Old Business:

1. Committee Report:
   1. Watering System - Jerry J., Bob M. and Richard P. A discussion was held regarding the repair of the plumbing of the system and the moving of the steel shed. Dale C. said he could get the equipment to move it and would let the members know the date and time. Possibly within the month. Volunteers will be needed to help. Maybe we can fly after. (note: Late report, the work will be done on Wednesday, October 8, starting at 10 AM.,volunteers needed)
   2. Gopher Control - Bob M. Bob said he is aware of the reported intrusion of a few gophers and is on their trail.
   3. Weed Control - David C. assisted by Bob M. Acquisition of three year weed control was discussed. Bob M. said he will be getting prices.
   4. Mowing - Jerry J. assisted by David C. Lynn H. said the grass catcher loaned to the club is not needed by the loaners and the club can keep it.
   5. Safety - Richard P. Richard was absent.
2. Flight Simulator - Scott P. and Richard P. in possession.
3. September 6 scale and open class Combat Meet Report - Chet C.:

   A $20 profit was made for the club.

1. Nominations for the 2009 club officers were put forward as follows:

   President	richard P.
   Vice President	David Castleberry
   Secretary	Jerry Haines, Sr.
   Treasurer	Jerry J.
   Safety Officer	Jerry Haines, Jr.

   At the November club meeting further nominations will taken and voting will take place when the nominations are closed. Installation of the new club officers will take place at the December Christmas meeting and dinner.
2. December Club Dinner arrangements were discussed led by Jerry J. Tips and Fiesta Guadalajara were voted on. The majority chose Fiesta Guadalajara in Ontario. The date will be Saturday, December 6, at 7PM.
3. Club dues were discussed and tabled until the November meeting.
4. Other new business:
   1. Jerry J. indicated that member Dean B. has decided to sell his models and that the proceeds to go to the club. So far $300 has been received from the selling. Dean has been a loyal, active member and flyer, but cannot fly anymore. Jerry J. put forth Dean to be honored by making him a lifetime member of the SRVM Club. Dave C. made the motion, 2nd by Jerry H. Sr. The motion carried.
   2. A bazaar/swap meet was discussed as follows:
      1. Date: the 1st Saturday in March 2009.
      2. Place: Ontario Middle School Gym (the old one).
      3. 10% of proceeds to go to the club.
      4. Contact other clubs in January 2009.
   3. The club is getting newspaper coverage by the ARGUS OBSERVER and MALHEUR ENTERPRISE.
5. Next meeting: Wednesday, November 5.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Bob M., 2nd by Lynn H. Motion carried, meeting adjourned.
