Minutes - May 6, 2009

The meeting was opened by President Ken Simmons at 1930.

Approval for the minutes of April 1, 2009 as e-mailed to the members was motioned by Jerry H. Jr. and 2nd by Richard P. The motion carried.

Treasurer's Report: Bob A.
Bob reported expendatures of $18 for the plaque and $97.50 for repair supplies for the field sprinkler system. Balance in the check book $2518.58.

Old Business:

  1. Committee Report:
    1. Weed Control: David C. assisted by Bob M. Round Up has been applied to the parking lot, fence areas and the edges of the runway. The sterilent will be applied in the Fall.
    2. Safety: Jerry H. Jr. - No comments on safety.
    3. Pest Control: Bob M. - Everything under control.
    4. Lawn Maintenance: Dave C. - Jerry J. mentioned that operating the mower is simple but critical operational items can not be negected. Some of them are engine temperature and the cleaning of the air intake screen. Also when operating it be careful not to run over the sprinkler heads. The mower weighs 1500 lbs. and the heads will be broken. It was advised before operating the mower to check with Dave C. or Jerry J.
    5. Sprinkler Maintenance: Richard P. - Richard has agreed to take over this responsibility from Jerry J. Thanks to you, Jerry, for your great work in the past. Bob M. showed up in the rain on the clean-up day and repaired all the broken heads. He said he was able to fly later as the weather rewarded him for his hard work.
  2. Flight Simulator Possession: Todd H. and Scott P.
  3. Power Transmission Line: From all reports the line will stay away from the field for now.
  4. Polar Bear event report was made by e-mail from Lynn H. 15 flyers qualified and received Polar Bear Certificates. Two were from other clubs. Delicious chile was served along with hot chocolate. The day was beautifully sunny. Lynn did a great job of setting up the event and administrating. The flyers were as follows:
New Business:
  1. Sanctioned Combat Meet - Saturday, May 16 - Register 9AM, Start 10AM - Scale/Open classes - Volunteers needed for judging, scoring etc. Bring extra hard hats for the volunteers - Contact Chet C.
  2. Idaho Scale Squadron Fun Fly, Saturday, May 23 - Parma Field. Information is that it is a practice session for the upcoming scale meet.
  3. Electric Combat/Pylon Racing, Saturday, May 30. Register 9AM Start 10AM. Volunteers needed for pylon judges etc. A great time was had last year. Anybody can fly. Electrics only. Nitro's can watch or help. Contact Jerry H. Jr.
  4. Fun Fly, Saturday, June 20. Many events, anybody can fly. Prizes to be had. Registor 9AM Start 10AM. Contact Richard P.
  5. Cross Country Fly, Saturday, July 18. Drivers and judges needed. Last years event was a great successful event. Contact Lynn H. He says this years event will be just as much fun or more.
  6. Summer Night Fly - Date to be announced. - Contact Jerry H. Jr.
  7. Other new business: Every Wednesday afternoon/evening flying throughout the summer. We did this last year and are going to do it again this year. Come and enjoy open flying with us.
  8. Next meeting: June 3, 2009.
