Minutes - February 4, 2009
The meeting was opened by President Ken Simmons at 1930.
Approval for the minutes of January 7, 2009 as e-mailed to the members was motioned by Dave C. and 2nd by Richard P. The motion carried.
Treasurer's Report: Bob A.
- Balance in the check book $2111.58.
- The above figure included expendature of $86.12 for lunch during the 2009 Club Event Schedule planning session on Jan. 10 and income from membership dues and from the sale of Dean B.'s R/C's.
- A motion to accept the Treasurers Report was made by Marshall D. and Earl D. The motion carried.
Old Business:
- Committee Report:
- Safety: Jerry H. Jr. - Jerry reported there was not much field flying done so there is nothing to report. The past subject of the reassessment of the no fly zone at the field was mentioned. Richard P. said that he was still working on it. He has some additional measurements to make before he can report on it.Weed Control: David C. assisted Bob M. Everything is OK.
- Weed Control: Dave C. assisted by Bob M. - Dave said he will soon be applying a sterilizer to the weeds inside the flying field, in the parking area and along the access road as far as it will go. He said caution is needed when the weed killer has been applied. DO NOT WALK ON THE GRASS, the sterilant can be tracked by your feet to the grass and kill it. Signs will be posted when the weed killer has been applied and the signs will be taken down when it is safe to walk on the grass.
- Flight Simulators - Jeff D. has one. The other one is at the hobby shop and available for use. Jerry J. has repaired the broken one. He stressed proper care in the use of the simulators. Do not let youngsters use them without constant supervision.
- Club dues for 2009:
- $60 single member
- $72 family
- $12 junior (under 18)
(new member dues are prorated based on the month paid)
- Membership cards will be distributed by the next meeting, Wed., Mar 4 to those who have paid their dues. The new gate combo will be changed on Mar. 1st and will be on the card.
- Power Transmission Line: Bob M. reported there is much opposition to the proposed route of the line throughout the entire area. We just wait, watch and see how things progress.
- Plaque for Dean B. was discussed and Ken S. will see to getting it done.
New Business:
- Website update: Ken S. is working on it.
- Review/Approval of 2009 Club Event Schedule. After much discussion the club Event Schedule is presented as follows:
Jan. 31 thru Mar. 28 - Indoor flying at the Cub Gym (Ontario Middle School (old gym)), on Saturdays, opening at 10AM. Contact Jerry H. Jr. for more info.
Feb. 4 - Club meeting - Oregon Trail Hobbies
Feb. 21 - Indoor Fun Fly at the Cub Gym
Mar. 4 - Club meeting - Oregon Trail Hobbies

The above schedule was motioned to be accepted by Lynn H. and 2nd by Jerry H. Jr. The motion carried.
- Swap Meet - Mar. 7 - A discussion was held as following:
- Cost to sellers - $5 per table and a voluntary donation to the club based on sales.
- Sellers to bring their own table, chairs etc.
- Refreshments to be provided, details to follow.
- Aircraft demo's to be provided.
- Membership info table.
- Coordinator needed.
The above discussion and ideas were motioned to be finalized at the next club meeting by Richard P. and 2nd by Lynn H. The motion carried.
- Other new business:
- Jerry J. brought up the subject of the disposition of the old mower. Sell it?, part it out?, keep it for parts? What do we want to do with it? After much discussion Jerry J. said he would continue to store it at his place.
- A Polar Bear Award was made (belated) to Richard P. He received a round of applause for his patience and skill.
- The meeting was adjourned.
