Minutes - August 6, 2008

The meeting was opened by President Bob A. at 1935.

Treasurer's Report: On hand $577.20.

Minutes from the July 2, 2008 meeting approval. A motion was made by Lynn H. and 2nd by Richard P. to accept the minutes of the July 2 meeting be accepted as e-mailed to the club members. The motion carried.

Old Business:

  1. Operation Matterhorn Report - July 26 - Lynn H. Lynn said that 15 pilots entered, 14 successfully took off and 12 landed. Thanks to the Cruson's and CAP cadet for feeding the 29 people the great breakfast. Winners were Jerry H.Jr., Todd H. and Rex Speed. Several R/C clubs were represented from around the valley. Income was $183, expenses $106 and profit to the club $77. Much thanks to Lynn H. for the organizing and to the volunteers for the help. Winner donations were much appreciated and well received.
  2. Maintenance and operation reports:
    1. Watering system - Bob M., Richard P. and Jerry J. A new sand separator was purchased on e-bay by Jerry J. for $60, a great savings of $300-400. Thanks Jerry J. Jerry J. and Earl D. monitored the sprinkler system. The lawn is doing good for the heat we have experienced.
    2. Gopher control - Bob M. - Bob said the gophers are losing the battle and they are moving to beyond the fence perimeter.
    3. Weed control - David C. - The weeds have been sprayed. It was suggested next year to use a 5 year spray.
    4. Mowing - Jerry J. is keeping on top of the mower. A bearing for the front wheels went out and repairs are being done.
    5. Safety - Richard P. Richard said that the NO FLY zone needs to be observed more closely by the pilots. The zone line extends beyond the runway at both ends as far as you can see. He will be bringing up other safety reminders to help us from time to time.
  3. Reminder: The 1st Aid Kit Box cover (back of the frequency board) must be opened by the first person on the field, even if its just one, and locked up when the last person leaves.
  4. Flight Simulater Status: Scott P. and Jeff D.
New Business:
  1. Fun Fly - August 23 - Jerry H. Jr./organizer, assisted by Todd H. and Richard P. It will be basically the same as the last one.
  2. Other New Business or items of interest:
    1. Combat Fly Meet in Eastern Idaho - Jerry H.Jr., Jerry H.Jr.Jr., Bob A., Ken S. and Todd H. plan to drive 300-400 miles to represent our club at the National Competion of scale and open classes.
    2. The concrete sign at the entrance road to our field needs attention. Todd H. said he would see if his daughter Amber (artist) will do it again.
    3. The ARGUS Observer has been faithfully posting our club events and results.
